Eligibility

Canadian Medical Residents

Residents of Canada, who are currently in the 3rd year of training at a Royal College accredited internal medicine residency, may apply for funded positions via the Canadian Residency Matching Service (CaRMS).

Graduates of foreign medical schools must be Landed Immigrants or Canadian citizens prior to date of application and fulfill the prerequisites outlined by CaRMS in order to apply via the CaRMS match.

This path leads to eligibility for certification in Endocrinology and Metabolism by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. For more information, please see the following resources or contact the Division of Endocrinology:

Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS)

Medical Residents Trained Outside of Canada

Graduates of foreign medical schools, who are not Citizens or Landed Immigrants of Canada, and who have completed (or will complete) their internal medicine residency, but have not completed subspecialty training, may apply outside of the CaRMS match.

This training does not lead to Royal College certification in Canada and the number of available positions is limited and may not be available every year. All candidates must meet criteria for educational licensure in British Columbia. For more information, please see the following resources or contact the Division of Endocrinology.

Note:  Internal funding is NOT available for these positions. Proof of external funding (i.e. from government or other recognized sources) is required before any application will be considered. These positions are very limited and may not be available every year.
